Whew! The self-proclaimed queen of Potomac, Karen Huger, is now facing a DUI charge after ripping through Maryland’s streets in her Maserati.

Court documents pulled by PEOPLE claim that a Montgomery County Police Department official pulled the 60-year-old over on Tuesday (March 19). She was driving her 2017 luxury vehicle when the stop occurred at about 11:50 p.m.

Here’s All The Charges Karen Huger Is Facing

Ultimately, the ‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ star drove herself into some serious charges. Officials have charged her with driving a vehicle while impaired and under the influence of alcohol.

Additional charges, per PEOPLE, include: “negligently driving a vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner endangering property, life, and person, recklessly driving a vehicle in wanton and willful disregard for the safety of persons and property.” 

But that’s not all. Apparently, she’s also charged with failing to control her vehicle speed on a highway to avoid a collision and driving in excess of reasonable speed on the highway. Karen was also allegedly driving with a suspended registration. She also faces charges related to failing to notify the administration about a change of address within 30 days, as related to her vehicle registration.

So what exactly did Karen do? Well, it looks like Mrs. Huger’s Maserati made contact with “multiple street signs” after crossing a median. Thankfully, the 60-year-old was not hurt as a result.

However, police say that she was driving in an “aggressive manner,” including at high speed, per TMZ.

Karen Breaks Her Silence On The Incident

PEOPLE reached out to Montgomery County PD and Bravo for comment, but has yet to receive a response. However, she did speak with TMZ on the matter on Wednesday (March 20).

She explained that she was thankful for the “prayers and well wishes,” adding that it was a “frightening experience.” Though she’s “still in shock” from the incident, she expressed gratitude for being “alive.” Karen Huger also alluded that her mother’s death has brought grief to her doorstep in waves, especially with Mother’s Day approaching.

“Last night I met a girlfriend for dinner, we talked and brought up some very emotionally sensitive topics. I was crying on my way home and saw a car heading right for me. I swerved to avoid the head-on collision, hit the divider and then a tree. I’m hurt, bruised up a bit, but so grateful I am alive! I did receive citations, one of which was unrelated to the incident which is understandable, but what was most surprising is that the car that almost hit me just drove away!”

She credited the seatbelt with saving her life and reminded folks to be aware of their emotional state when taking the wheel.

Karen Huger was not arrested following the collision but has a mandatory court appearance on the books. At this time, the date for the appearance is unclear.
