Here’s What Toni Braxton Said

Toni Braxton appeared at the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s 32nd annual Academy Awards viewing party on Sunday, March 10. While walking the red carpet, the singer spoke exclusively with Entertainment Tonight.

During the conversation, the 56-year-old was asked to share how much she’s looking forward to her and her family being back on reality television.

“You know, it’s really important [because] we lost one of our sisters, she wanted us to do this show again, and we were hesitant at first,” she explained. “But we said, ‘We’re gonna do it for Traci.’ What’s really important about doing our show is [telling] real stories about family. And I think when people see our stories, maybe we can help them in having a loss in the family.”

Additionally, Braxton explained that she and her family just started shooting the show last week.

According to Variety, it was announced in February that Toni, her sisters Towanda, Trina, and Tamar, and their mother, Evelyn, would be returning to reality TV with a show called ‘The Braxtons.’ The outlet notes that the family’s original series, ‘Braxton Family Values,’ came to a halt in 2020 after seven seasons.

Then, in 2022, Toni’s sister, Traci, passed away following a battle with cancer.

The outlet adds that ‘The Braxtons’ will chronicle the family’s lives during the 2020 COVID-19. Additionally, it will show the aftermath of Traci’s passing.

“Everyone has had a loss in their families, and for us, it was our first, and it’s been difficult to deal with,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “But we’ve had so many people, so many fans, welcoming us, so that part helps us. I don’t think people realize how much they’re helping us.”

According to the outlet, a premiere date has not yet been set for the series.

Social Media Chimes In

Social media users have shared their excitement and reaction to the Braxtons’ return to reality TV on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The Singer Recently Made Headlines Regarding Speculation Of Her Relationship

As The Shade Room previously reported, Toni Braxton recently made headlines in November 2023. At the time, Braxton shared a photo of her and her yearslong boyfriend, Birdman, making it clear that she was sending “Sunday kisses” his way.

However, fans appeared to take Braxton’s love note too far. In December, the singer shut down rumors that she “secretly” married Birdman during a ceremony in Mexico.

Additionally, Braxton seemed to proclaim her — and Birdman’s — relationship status as “single.”

While speaking with Entertainment Tonight on Sunday, Braxton reflected on the false news.

“I’m not married…” Braxton reiterated. “If I was married, trust me, I would want the whole world to know it — you would see my fabulous dress. You would know it — and the ring.”
