According to a recent report from TMZ, a former coach of the USA Olympics gymnastics team has committed suicide after being charged with 20 counts of human trafficking, 2 counts of sexual assault, 1 count of racketeering, and 1 count of lying to a peace officer.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, who convicted former team coach John Geddert, said, “My office has been notified that the body of John Geddert was found late this afternoon after taking his own life. This is a tragic end to a tragic story for everyone involved.”

Geddert coached during the 2012 Olympic Games in London, overseeing Olympians such as Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, McKayla Maroney, Kyla Ross, and Jordyn Wieber. One of the team’s doctors, Larry Nassar, who was sentenced to 40 to 175 years in prison in 2018 for sexually abusing young gymnasts, was shielded by Geddert, who lied to police saying he never heard complaints about the doctor.
