Bill Cosby Sends Message to Harvey Weinstein Following Rape Conviction

Bill Cosby was found guilty of the sexual abuse of Judy Huth in 1975. Huth was 16 years old at the time. A civil jury has ordered Cosby to pay Huth $500,000.

According to Variety, Huth’s attorney, Gloria Allred, stated that compensation and winning in court are steps toward real change.

According to Huth, 64 years old, Cosby brought her and a friend to a mansion. He would then lead Huth alone to a bedroom, where he pulled down his pants and forced her hand on him for masturbation.

After the verdict, Huth stated, “It’s been so many years, so many tears, it’s just a long time coming.”

Reports from inside the courtroom state Cosby’s representation smiled and appeared cheerful at the conclusion and the verdict. Most notably, because there were no punitive damages. They would release a statement after court.

“We have always maintained that Judy Huth, Gloria Allred and their cohorts fabricated these false accusations, in order to force Mr. Cosby to finance their racist mission against successful and accomplished Black Men in America. Mr. Cosby continues to maintain his innocence and will vigorously fight these false accusations, so that he can get back to bringing the pursuit of happiness, joy and laughter to the world.”

The verdict was delivered after three days of deliberation. The case was the first to trial under the Child Victims Act. Cosby did not testify, pleading the Fifth Amendment, and did not attend the trial.

Russell Westbrook has had it with the names.

Skip Bayless had taken to Twitter to take a dig at the Lakers for drafting former Michigan State guard, Max Christie, who is not the best 3-point shooter.

“Lakers acquire a 2nd-round pick, take Michigan State’s Max Christie, who shot only 32% from 3 last season,” Bayless tweeted. “Perfect! He’ll fit right in with LeBron and Westbrick.”

Westbrook, who has apparently had enough of the Skip Bayless slander, responded to the sports analyst on Twitter, telling him not to say anything he wouldnt say in person.

“Yoooo… watch your mouth. Don’t say anything here you wouldn’t say to my face.”

Bayless has not responded to Westbrook yet. He might bring it up on the next episode of Undisputed. However, this is not the frist time Bayless has been called out for calling Westbrook out of his name. Westbrook’s wife, Nina Westbrook, called out Bayless on Twitter a few months ago for referring to her husband as “Westbrick.”

“You’ve got to stop calling people out of their name,” Nina Westbrook said in reponse to a tweet from Bayless.

“You are very disrespectful and a bully. This is why so many young people think it’s okay to exhibit this type of behavior. Social media has become such heinous place because of people like you. My name is Westbrook,” she added.

“I’m tired you you @RealSkipBayless calling my husband out of his name. It is extremely childish. That is my name as well, and many other peoples name. You’re disrespectful, and I’m extremely offended by your behavior. You should apologize.”

Thursday night’s Verzuz battle has been making its way around social media, and not in a good way. The pre-show featuring Ray J, Bobby V, Pleasure P, and Sammie caught the audience’s attention not because it was necessarily good, but because of Ray J’s performance.

Ray J took the stage and attempted to sing “One Wish.” However, this was truly an attempt as Ray J failed to hit a single note from the song.

Ray J once again became a trending topic on Twitter, with many asking if he was serious, and asking why he was holding his child on stage.

Regardless, Ray J didn’t take the jokes personally and even reposted a video making fun of him on his Instagram. His big sis, Brandy, jumped in the comments section asking Ray J why he didn’t follow any of her instructions.

“Bro, Pops told me that you didn’t drink none of the tea I made for you,” Brandy commentsed. “He also told me that you were talking all day when I specifically said NO TALKING and only drink water and the special tea I made for you at four in the freaking morning. Caught red handed. If I had one wish, is for you to listen to me. Lord have mercy. I love you but we are gonna have a serious conversation when I’m [off] of vocal rest.”

Ray J then deleted Brandy’s comment, and thats when she jumped back into the comments section, urging her little brother to “listen to your big sis sometimes.”

Supreme Court On Abortions & Roe vs. Wade

This morning the Supreme Court announced its decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, reversing the long-standing constitutional right to abortion set forth in the Supreme Court’s 1973 Rose v. Wade decision.   In holding that “[t]he Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion,” the Court’s decision removes the nationwide federal abortion ban and permits each state to enact and enforce laws restricting abortion or outlawing it entirely.  This highly unprecedented and controversial ruling represents one of the first if only times that the Court has rejected and overruled its own 50-year-old, well-established precedential rulings in order to take away the Constitutional rights of Americans.  Moreover, it promises to radically reshape how access to abortion occurs in this country and to trigger massive amounts of further litigation.

A critical question is what will happen in the states now that the Supreme Court has lobbed this particular bomb into the already highly volatile political landscape of this country.  It is expected that, following Dobbs, as many as twenty-six states will quickly outlaw or severely restrict abortion.  

Thirteen states, including Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming, have enacted “trigger laws” that are intended to outlaw abortion automatically as soon as Roe v. Wade is reversed.  In each of these states, these laws have already gone into effect upon the issuance of Dobbs, or will very soon go into effect automatically or upon certification by an executive officeholder.  

Five states have pre-Roe laws outlawing abortion that have been unenforceable until today.  These include Alabama, Arizona, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Michigan. The status of these laws in certain states remains uncertain.  In Michigan, a court has blocked the law from being enforced. In Wisconsin, the Attorney General has stated he will not enforce the state ban.  Arizona’s Republican governor has suggested that the state’s current 15-week ban would take precedence over the pre-Roe total ban.  It remains to be seen how these issues will be resolved.

Four states, including Georgia, Iowa, Ohio, and South Carolina, currently have six-week abortion bans that will likely go into effect, and these states may further seek a total ban following Dobbs.  Additionally, Florida, Indiana, Montana, and Nebraska do not currently have bans in place but are expected to attempt to outlaw or restrict abortions going forward.

The states that are not expected to outlaw or restrict abortion rights, at least in the short term, based on their current recognition of the right to abortion are Alaska, California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, Iowa, Minnesota, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and Hawaii.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are ripping the Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe V. Wade, the landmark 1973 decision that led to the legalization of abortion in America.  

Pelosi said a “radical Supreme Court” is eviscerating the health and safety of American women.  She also accused Republicans of plotting a nationwide abortion ban.  The high court’s ruling leaves abortion up to individual states. 

Speaking with reporters, Pelosi vowed, “Reproductive freedom is on the ballot” in November’s midterm elections. She said the high court has reversed a constitutional right that has existed for nearly 50 years, calling it a “dangerous decision.” Pelosi also labeled the ruling cruel and heart wrenching.

According to NBC News, in a statement Schumer called it “one of the darkest days our country has ever seen.” The New York Democrat added, “Millions upon millions of American women are having their rights taken from them by unelected justices on the extremist MAGA court.”  

MAGA is shorthand for former President Trump’s longtime slogan, Make America Great Again.

Other officials reacting to the Roe V. Wade decision is New York City Mayor Eric Adams, condemning the ruling, calling it an affront to human rights that shackles women and others to “reproductive bondage.” Adams says the Supreme Court has ignored the opinions of the majority of Americans. 

Abortion is still legal in New York, even for those coming from out of state.

Supreme Court Ends 50 Years of Abortion Rights by Overturning Roe V. Wade

On Friday, The Supreme Court overruled Roe V. Wade, terminating the constitutional right of women to abortion. Roe V. Wade was put in place nearly 50 years ago. The ruling will now result in total bans of abortion in nearly half of the states in America.

According to the New York Times, the 6-3 ruling will be a key moment for the Trump administration, which had the desire to overrule Roe by placing conservative judges in the Court. Three of Trump’s appointees were in the majority for the decision.

Roe V. Wade was established in 1973 by a 7-to-2 vote. At the time, the court stated states did not have the ability to ban abortions before fetal viability.

The majority opinion that tossed Roe was written by Justice Samuel Alito.

“The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision, including the one on which the defenders of Roe and Casey now chiefly rely — the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment,” Alito wrote.

“That provision has been held to guarantee some rights that are not mentioned in the Constitution, but any such right must be ‘deeply rooted in this Nation’s history and tradition’ and ’implicit in the concept of ordered liberty.”

In early May, a leaked draft of the decision to pull back Roe V. Wade hit the public and sparked protests on both sides of the political discussion. A source for the leak has yet to be identified.

‘Honestly, Nevermind’ Your Opinion, We Needed This Drake Album 

Drake Announces 'Care Package' Release

Drake put the social media world in a frenzy when he announced the coming of his seventh studio album Honestly, Nevermind.

People anticipated a typical Drake album. You know the emotional records that puts us in our feels. Or the rap heavy tracks with the caption ready lyrics. Well when Drizzy surprisingly dropped Honestly, Nevermind, he surprised fans with exotic sound on the album. Clearly from the social media responses, fans were not expecting to hear this.

Despite what fans thought, Honestly, Nevermind is still a vibe. Fans were in shock when they heard a full-blown Dance Hall/Afro-Beat album, but this isn’t anything new from Drake. Drake, a Toronto native, has been dabbling in house music and we been loving it. From “One Dance,” to “Controlla,” Drake has been in this type of bag.

Now that fans are finally free to go back outside, Honestly, Nevermind is music fans can have fun to, vibe to, and feel free to be themselves. He said it himself, “We’re here for a good time not a long time,” and this is definitely a feel good album. Honestly, Nevermind is an album that takes your mind on vacation and away from the world’s harsh reality.

If you watched the visual to the first video he released, “Falling Back,” in the intro, he tells NBA star Tristan Thompson, a fellow Canadian, how he’s feeling. “This is a good time for me,” he said. Then he proceeds to marry 20 plus women, displaying the true definition of his “Motto,” yolo, (You only live once).

Drake’s producer, Noah “40” Shebib teamed up with legendary South African house producers Black Coffee and Gordo FKA Carnage to deliver 14 up beat tracks that’s made for you to move your body.

Don’t be misconstrued, this is still Drake we’re talking about. So ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ what fans said about the album, give it a listen for yourself. Songs like “Text Go Green” provides a familiar OVO sound that fans should be used to. Over the afro production, Drake returns with his smooth melodic cadence and he’s being transparent about his emotions. On the course he sings:

“Texts go green, it hits a little different, don’t it?
Know you missed the days when I was grippin’ on it. Know you’re in a house tonight just thinkin’ on it. I moved on so long ago”

On “Massive,” Drake really showed his versatility as an artists. Although he’s still singing softly, and the track is upbeat, it’s not much afro centric. The electric production drives this track. Drake sings minimally on “Massive” and he lets the beat take your mind and your mood to another world. It’s EDM vibes for certian.

Drake dropped a multi-genre album that’s propelling Hip-Hop into a non-categorical space in music. Drake covered everything on this album and he didn’t forget his ties to the hood.

On the last track of the album, Drake teamed up with 21 Savage and went all in on the rap side. He dedicated the song to the late YSL rapper Lil Keed and went in with 21.

Honestly, Nevermind received huge backlash from fans, but it didn’t bother the 6 God one bit. He responded by saying “It’s all good if you don’t get it yet. It’s all good,” he said in an Instagram video. “That’s what we do. We wait for you to catch up. We’re in here, though. We’re caught up already. On to the next. My goodness.”

While many fans didn’t appreciate Honestly, Nevermind, many did. After an hour of it’s release, Drake broke an Apple Music streaming record. Honestly, Nevermind, debuted on streaming services Friday (June 17), and it became Apple Music’s biggest dance album in history for first-day streams worldwide.

Drake also held Apple Music’s previous record for for first-day streams worldwide with the release of his last album Certified Lover Boy. He also holds the third place record as well with Scorpion, and the record for for the biggest song in Apple Music history by first-day streams worldwide, with “Girls Want Girls.”

Denzel Washington & Dakota Fanning Will Reunite In ‘Equalizer 3’

Announced the third installment in The Equalizer franchise, starring award-winning actor Denzel Washington, was in the works in January. Joining the trilogy is former Washington co-star and well-known actress Dakota Fanning, Deadline reports.

Washington and Fanning will reunite after nearly 20 years of starring opposite each other in the 2004 action thriller Man on Fire. In 2004, Man on Fire debuted at #1 in the box office and grossed $22,751,490. Fanning joins the cast following her recent role in the Michelle Pfeiffer-starring Showtime’s The First Lady.

The concept for The Equalizer 3 is currently unknown. The film is written by Richard Wenk and produced by Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch and Washington-himself. Longtime Washington collaborator and director Antoine Fuqua returns for the third installment.
